Dr. Evonne Thompson
Board Member
Dr. Evonne Thompson is an international speaker, teacher, and author known for leading high-impact events. She is deeply passionate about ministry efforts and volunteering, dedicating much of her time to serving others.
In February/March 2024, Dr. Thompson traveled to Liberia, West Africa, for foreign missions with a caravan of mission-minded individuals. During this trip, she met Ms. Calandra Flanigan and others from St. Louis, Illinois, North Carolina, Ohio, and Texas. In a conversation with Ms. Calandra, Dr. Thompson shared that she had been told she would be moving to Liberia. Ms. Calandra briefly shared her vision for the country, and Dr. Thompson was pleasantly surprised. She encouraged Ms. Calandra in her endeavors, expressing her support and commitment to praying for her and her mission.
After returning to the United States, Dr. Thompson and Ms. Calandra continued their dialogue about how to consistently serve the people of Liberia. Today, Dr. Thompson proudly serves as a board member of the Bright Business and Resource Center, Inc., contributing to its vision of providing resources and hope to the Liberian community.
Professionally, Dr. Thompson is the Interim Assistant Vice President of Compliance, Enterprise Risk Management, and Internal Audit at the University of Chicago. She also serves as a Spiritual Director for master's-level students at United Theological Seminary. Additionally, she is a member of the Executive Council for United Way of Metro Chicago’s Women United and a leader in various Chicago-area ministries.
With an MA in theology, Dr. Thompson complements her theological expertise with a business background as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and an MBA graduate from Regent University. After completing her doctorate at United Theological Seminary, she launched Elici, a consultancy that combines her faith with her experience as a Fortune 200 professional.
Dr. Thompson is committed to positively impacting diverse communities through both her professional work and ministry.
